HOW DO I REGISTER?
1. Register on-line
2. You must pick up registration paperwork at an SV in person event. Paperwork includes: physical (signed by a doctor), a copy of birth certificate, photo of participant and full year report card. You will need to return all completed paperwork before your cheerleader can participate. Only official Pop Warner forms will be accepted.
3. Attend mandatory parent meeting (May) and uniform fitting (June)
WHAT AGE CAN PARTICIPATE?
Cheer is offered for age 5 – 16, all experience levels welcome. Your daughter’s age will determine team placement along with availability of coaches. Pop Warner Age Matrix This year, we are excited to offer a Jr. Tiny Mite team for 3 & 4 year olds.
HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED? WILL MY DAUGHTER CHEER FOR MY SON’S FOOTBALL TEAM?
Cheer teams are formed under the age matrix guidelines and placement is limited to team availability due to size of team & coaches. It is not guaranteed, cheer teams are formed by age and cheer for football teams of the like age group. If your daughter cheers for the same division as your son, we always do our best to put the two teams together.
WHEN WILL MY HEAD COACH CONTACT ME?
You can expect an email at the end of May or early June.
HOW LONG IS THE SEASON?
The season runs from August through November (Jr. Tiny Mite, Tiny Mite) August through February (Jr. Mitey Mite, Mitey Mite, Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Junior Varsity, Varsity)
Practice begins August 1st. Regular season football games start at the end of August through the end of October. The first cheer competition is early October. If your team qualifies for WESCON regional competition, that is held in November. Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Competition is held in Orlando, FL in early December. JAMZ Nationals in Las Vegas is held at the end of January and JAMZ State is held in Bakersfield in February.
HOW OFTEN ARE PRACTICES AND WHERE ARE THEY HELD?
The first 2 weeks of practices in August are typically 4-5 days per week for conditioning. After Labor day, teams drop practices down to 3 days a week or less at coaches discretion. Practices are held at various schools in the Saddleback Valley district. You will know your practice schedule at the start of the season. *Schedule/location may change due to facility availability
WHAT DAYS ARE PRACTICES?
The practice days are determined by the coach and will be communicated in July. If you have a conflict, please communicate that early on to the head coach. Our attendance policy is strictly enforced.
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT?
SVPW is run entirely by volunteers. Parents are expected to volunteer for league and/or team activities for the duration of their team’s season. Parents are also expected to assist during game day. Parents will also need to help at Opening Day. Volunteers run this program. All parents need to help in some capacity.
WHERE ARE THE GAMES?
Most games are on Saturday. Home games are played at local high school stadiums. Away games can be held anywhere in the OEC Conference which covers all of Orange County and a few cities in Los Angeles County. Traveling will be involved, and most teams will be required to arrive 1 hour prior to game time. The schedule is released by the OEC in August. *Games may take place on Sundays
WHO SCHEDULES THE GAMES?
The Orange Empire Conference schedules the games. *schedule can change due to a variety of factors. Coaches/team parents will communicate changes as soon as possible.
